Hilltop Cafe owner Mark Jones has been making his city a destination for a decade, and he’s been making it a regular since he opened his own cafe in 2006.
He says the cafe’s reputation for being a quiet place is due to the owners love for food, and it’s a great way to get in touch with that love.
Jones has opened Hilltop cafe in London’s Chinatown since 2006, and has now opened two more cafes in the area.
He recently opened his first cafe in the borough of Islington.
Here, he tells Business Insider about the food he loves.
The Food Is Good!
Hilltop has the best food in the world, according to Mark Jones.
It’s always been a great place to grab a sandwich, a slice of pizza or a glass of wine, but it’s the way the food is made that has changed.
“You can find it anywhere, so we do have a lot of restaurants that cater to a certain market, but Hilltop is our home.
You can find everything from sandwiches, salads, soups, souffles and desserts, and you’ll find everything in one spot,” he says.

It Gets Better with Time.
If you’re looking for a good place to eat in London, you’re in luck!
“I’ve seen people coming and going and not coming back for years,” Jones says.
“I just love people coming back and having a good time, because it’s so relaxed and fun.”
Hilltop Coffee is another great place for a relaxing afternoon out.
It’ll Make You Want to Go Home Again.
The Hilltop area is known for its vibrant nightlife, and this cafe is another reason why.
“Hilltop has a lot going for it, which is that it’s just a very quiet place and very cosy,” Jones explains.
“It’s a really cosy neighbourhood, so people come and go, so there’s always a little bit of something for everyone.”
You Can Order Anything From Anywhere!
Hillside has the highest concentration of restaurants of any borough in London.
You could get a sandwich at Hilltop, for example, or a coffee at Hillside, which could be a local brew.
“If you go there and you have an idea that you want to try, you can go there, you know,” Jones adds.
“So if you want a coffee, you don’t have to ask, you just ask.”

The Atmosphere Is Unique!
“It makes you feel like you’re at home,” Jones tells Business Insider.
“There’s something about the area, and the people, that makes you want, and feel, safe.”
It’s not just the people who feel safe, though.
“The food’s always great, and they’ve been making some really delicious food for a while now,” Jones continues.
“They’re making some pretty good, really unique things.”
It has an Atmosphere of Its Own.
“A lot of people who are coming to Hilltop are coming there to have a good, good time,” Jones concludes.
“When you go to the cafe, you go and you feel a bit like you have a place of your own.
It can be that, or it can be the whole restaurant.
It depends on the vibe you’re going for, and that’s what makes it so special.”
It Has An Ideal Location.
Hillside is a lovely, quiet place, and so is its location.
“We are situated in a place that’s ideally suited to a quiet space,” Jones states.
“Because of that, it’s an ideal place to sit down, and be really relaxed.”
It Makes a Difference When It Comes to Socialising.
Hillhouse Cafe is also known for being friendly, and its atmosphere is very much of that.
“Its very, very welcoming, and a great social gathering place,” Jones reveals.
You’ll Enjoy Your Time in a Very Special Place.
Hillstreet’s main street, Hillside Road, is a quiet, residential area, which suits the cafe owners needs perfectly.
“For the Hilltop community, the main street is a great spot to be, because of the nature of the place,” says Jones.
“But for the locals, it also gives them the opportunity to have their own private place.”

You Have a Beautiful View of the Capital.
HillTop is also home to a fantastic, gorgeous view of the capital, Jones says, which makes it perfect for a nice, relaxing night out.
“Our main street has such a beautiful view of London, and as a community we have a wonderful view of it,” Jones confirms.
